Home Inspections

Inspections are performed in accordance with the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors. These documents service as the basis of the scope of work and are available for viewing at www.lsbhi.state.la.us/

Commercial Building Inspections

Commercial building inspections are performed in similar fashion to home inspections with additional emphasis on electrical installation, handicapped accessibility, parking facilities, etc….

Roof Inspections

Roof Inspections are performed primarily for the purpose of evaluating the roof surface material performance and condition, flashing installation, and moisture intrusion. Where accessible, details of roof construction are evaluated for proper performance.

Foundation Inspections

Foundation inspections include a review of the foundation and observations of building components related to the foundation. The building components are observed for symptoms related to foundation instability or degradation.

Moisture Intrusion Assessments

The scope of these services varies significantly but typically involves a visual inspection of affected areas and may include moisture readings to confirm findings. Moisture meters and infrared cameras are used in determining moisture sources and the magnitude of the moisture intrusion.

Mold Assessments

Conditions leading to mold growth in buildings can be difficult to detect and must include a moisture source. Our assessment includes a visual review of the building for moisture and air entry and subtle elements in the building performance that may lead to mold growth.

Infrared Thermography

This service allows us to offer energy audits on buildings and assists in detecting hidden moisture in building components from defects such as plumbing leaks, roof leaks, and air entry locations.

Site Design and Construction Management

Our civil engineering capabilities are used by clients in site development projects and include the design and construction management of parking facilities, drainage and sewer systems, and roadway systems. Coordination and liaison services with local government officials are typically a component of our services.

Educational Services

We provide educational seminars and classes to the public, private and institutional sectors. Our classes have been offered to architects, engineers, attorneys, school board professionals, public officials, real estate professionals and the general public with typical topics relating to building performance and failures.

Legal Support Services

Due to our knowledge of building science and our success in forensic investigations, insurance professionals, attorneys, individual homeowners, and corporate entities have engaged our services to provide fair, accurate, and ethical determinations of building component failure or function and provide assistance in dispute resolution.

As part of our services, written reports are produced on assessments and inspections to inform clients of significant findings with recommendations of repair, where applicable.
